Edith Lyle Stever Prier Davis

Edith Lyle Stever Prier Davis, 96, formerly of Eagle Rock, passed away Tuesday, July 8, 2014, at Guest Home Estates II, Chanute, Kan. She was born March 10, 1918, to Ota and Stella Holman Stever, of Mano.

She attended Mano School and graduated with honors from Cassville High School in 1936 and was the Valedictorian of the class. She attended State Teachers College, Southwest Missouri State University, and Drury College, graduating in 1960 with a Bachelor of Science degree.

She taught at local schools for 35 years: Brock (1937-38), East Fork (1938-39); Muncey (1942-46); Eagle Rock (1955-62); Exeter (1962-66); and Washburn (1966-84). She was school clerk with the Muncey School Board from 1946-1955 and was president of the Southwest Teachers Association at Washburn.

She was married to Marion Prier, of Muncey, in 1938; they were married for 35 years when he passed away in 1973.

She married Homer Davis in 1984; they were married for 15 years until his death in 2000.

She was a member of Roaring River Baptist Church.

Survivors include: three sons, Doyle and Lori Penner Prier, of Hopeville, Ontario; Kenny and Jane Prier, of Eagle Rock; and Cecil and Barbara Prier, of Chanute, Kan.; 10 grandchildren; and 15 great-grandchildren. Her sisters, Velma Stever Willyard and Wilma Stever Skelton, and a grandson preceded her in death.

Funeral services will be held at 10 a.m. on Saturday, July 12 at Fohn Funeral Home, Cassville.

The burial will be at Munsey Cemetery in Eagle Rock following the service.

In lieu of flowers, the family suggests memorials to Roaring River Baptist Church, Munsey Cemetery, or Cherry Street Youth Center of Chanute, Kan.
