Cassville man nearly drowns in Table Rock Lake

Man in critical condition at Cox South in Springfield

A Cassville man is in critical condition after nearly drowning in Table Rock Lake on Tuesday.

According to a Missouri State Highway Patrol report, Carlos Mateo, of Cassville, was holding the boom line and let go, going underwater before being pulled out and taken to shore by another swimmer. The report said family began performing CPR until first responders arrived.

Mateo was swimming at the Eagle Rock Swim Beach neat Point 26. The report said he was not wearing a safety device.

Mateo was transported to Cox South in Springfield, where he was in critical condition as of late Wednesday morning.

Trooper Ryan Zeller and Sgt. Terry Sanders responded to the scene.
