Ordon O. "Sonny" Tummons

Ordon O. "Sonny" Tummons, 74, of Shell Knob, passed away Monday, June 30, 2014, in his home.

He was born Sept. 29, 1939, in Springfield, the son of Ordon Eugene and Nannie (Jaynes) Tummons. On April 14, 1961, he was united in marriage to Ellen, who preceded him in death. Also preceding him in death were his parents; one brother, Carl Tummons and stepmother, Dora Ann "Dodie" Tummons.

Survivors include: his fiancÚ, Donna Matchett, of Shell Knob; two sisters, Barbara Endsley and her husband, Mel, of Shell Knob, and Shirley Robinson and her husband, Jim, of Memphis, Tenn.

He received his education in Ft. Smith Ark., where he graduated from high school. He then enlisted in the U.S. Army and later the U.S. Air Force, from which he retired. After his retirement, he worked for Church's Chicken, and in 1996, he moved to Shell Knob to make his home. He was an active member of VFW Post 2203. Funeral services were held Monday in Fohn Funeral Home, Shell Knob. Pastor David Donaldson conducted the services. Burial, with military honors, was at Painter Cemetery, Shell Knob.
