Wheaton VFD sets date for annual barbecue

The Wheaton Volunteer Fire Department has set its annual barbecue for Saturday, Aug. 23 in Wheaton's city park. There will be free rides for children beginning at 1 p.m. and continuing throughout the day. Large tents will be set up for crafters. There will be no charge for the booth spaces, and anyone interested in a space may call Lindy Lombard at 417-652-7359 to reserve a spot. Grandstand entertainment will begin at 1 p.m. and continue throughout the afternoon and evening until the annual duck race in the park at 8 p.m. At 8:30 p.m., The Black Moods will end the evening with a concert. More information will be available later, and anyone with questions may call Lombard.

Red Rose to host early fireworks show

Red Rose Health and Rehab, located at 812 Old Exeter Road in Cassville, will host a fireworks display on June 28. Entertainment, provided by Trent Huse, will begin at 8 p.m., and the fireworks will begin at dusk.

Mitchell-Fletcher Family Reunion set for Sunday

The Mitchell and Fletcher Annual Family Reunion will be held on June 29 at the Monett Park beginning at 10 a.m. Everyone is welcome and should bring a covered dish and old pictures.

Signups for School Readiness Fair ongoing

Sign-ups for the Annual School Readiness Fair are being taken at the OACAC Barry County Neighborhood Center until July 3. Pre-registration is required, and people should call 417-847-2140 for an appointment. Social Security cards are required for each member of the household. The School Readiness Fair will be held on Aug. 2 at the Family Life Center.

CHS graduation DVDs now available

The Cassville High School Class of 2014 Graduation DVDs are now available for purchase through the high school office for $5 each. For more information, call the high school at 417-847-3137.

Purdy Free Will Baptist Church hosts VBS

Red Cross hosting blood drive in Cassville

The American Red Cross will hold a blood drive from 11 a.m. to 4 p.m. on June 27 at Arvest Bank, located at 503 Main in Cassville.

Dogwood Trail Garden Club flower show set

The Dogwood Trail Garden Club will present its annual flower show from 1 to 4 p.m. on June 28 at the Shell Knob/Viola Community Building. The theme will be "Childhood Memories."

Day Family Reunion set for June 28

Richard Butler (Bud) and Kate Clara (James) Day's Family Reunion is set for June 28 at 10:30 a.m. The reunion will be held at the picnic shelter at Roaring River State Park. Attendees should bring dishes for the potluck, beverages (no alcohol) and lawn chairs. Those who play music are also invited to bring their instruments.

Manufacturing Technology seminar set

A seminar on "How Can My Company Get Involved in the Advanced Manufacturing Technology Program?" will be presented by Ken Rhuems, activities director and curriculum specialist at Crowder College, at noon on Thursday, June 26 at Big Baldy's Barbecue in Monett.
