Murl Gene Wallis, 71, of Jenkins, passed away Saturday, June 21, 2014.
He was born Jan. 30, 1943, in North Little Rock, Ark., the son of Marl and Emma (Crumb) Wallis. On Feb. 13, 2010, in Perdido Kay, Fla., he was united in marriage to Joyce DeAnne Patterson, who survives.
Additional survivors include: one son, Matthew Gene "Matt" Wallis and his wife, Shari, of Bakersfield, Calif.; four brothers, Welton Wallis, of Pixley, Calif., Norman Wallis and his wife, Martha, of Bakersfield, Calif., Clifford Wallis and his wife, Brenda, of Jenkins, and Vernon Wallis and his wife, Loretta, of Pixley, Calif.; and one step-grandchild.
Preceding him in death were his parents.
He received his education in California and graduated from high school in Earlimart. He then attended Bakersfield Community College. Much of his life was spent in Bakersfield, Calif., where he was employed as the city street supervisor for the city of Bakersfield. In 1996, he moved from Bakersfield to Jenkins to make his home. Graveside services with military honors will be held at 10 a.m. Thursday at Clio Cemetery, Jenkins, under direction of Fohn Funeral Home, Cassville.
There will be no visitation.
