Local law enforcement personnel in Purdy are seeking information on the identity and location of a suspect wanted for questioning in connection with cashing stolen checks at a chain store retailer in southwest Missouri.

Purdy Police Chief Jackie Lowe said the woman and two male subjects had stolen a box of checks from a residence in Purdy and had subsequently cashed several at Walmart stores in Monett, Springfield and Nixa.

"We have identified at least one of the men accompanying her," Lowe said. "We are seeking help from the public in identifying the female suspect."

According to Lowe, a majority of the purchases are gift cards and gas cards, as well as cash back from the account, which has been closed.

Initial descriptions of the woman indicate she weighs about 180 pounds and stands about 5-5 with brown hair.

Anyone with information on the suspect is asked to call the Barry-Lawrence Chapter of Crime Stoppers at 354-TIPS (8477) or toll-free at 1-888-635-TIPS (8477).
