George A. Masia, Jr., 88, of Cassville, passed away Wednesday, June 11, 2014, in his home.

He was born Feb. 13, 1926, in Chicago, Ill., the son of George J. and Elsie (Springer) Masia. On Sept. 17, 1948, he was united in marriage to Lieselotte Bauer, who preceded him in death on Sept. 21, 1997. Also preceding him in death were his parents and his son-in-law, George Henderson.

Survivors include: one daughter, Heidi Henderson of Cassville; one grandson; one sister, Shirley Loraine Blankley, of Fayetteville, Ark.

He grew up in Chicago, Ill., and attended Ray School in Chicago and graduated from Hyde Park High School. He attended Northwestern College in Chicago and George Williams College in Wisconsin. During World War II, he served in the U.S. Air Force. He received his bachelor's degree in business from the University of Denver in Denver, Colo. In 1967, he moved to Germany, remaining there until 1972. He was a computer analyst for the U.S. Government for several years. In 2002, he moved to Cassville.

He was a member of Cassville United Methodist Church, where services and military honors will be held at 11 a.m. Thursday. Rev. Don Beeson will conduct the services. Cremation arrangements are under direction of Fohn Funeral Home, Cassville.
