Winnie E. Searl
Winnie E. Searl, age 73, of Washburn, Missouri, passed away on Tuesday, June 3, 2014, at Ashley Health and Rehabilitation in Rogers, Arkansas. Mrs. Searl, daughter of Ivan and Thelma "Babe" (Nodine) Stephens was born on March 10, 1941 in Washburn. She was united in marriage to E.H. "Pete" Searl on April 6, 1959; he preceded her in death on April 19, 1993. Mrs. Searl was a school bus driver for the Washburn R-V School district for 35 years; she loved all the children that she had every year. Gospel music and singing were her passion; she sang at many funerals and gatherings, and loved listening to the McKameys' gospel singing group. Mrs. Searl loved to crochet and quilt, and she made many things for family and friends. Family meant a lot to her; she would always cook for her brothers and make sure they were taken care of. Mrs. Searl attended the OK Assembly of God Church located west of Washburn and Exeter Assembly of God Church.
Survivors include: five brothers, Paul Dean Stephens, of Pierce City, Joe Stephens and his wife Carlene, of Decatur, Texas, Bill Stephens, of Cassville, Jackie Stephens, of Washburn, and Ronnie Stephens and his wife Becky, of Washburn; one sister, Coleen Bowman, of Exeter; and several nieces and nephews.
In addition to her parents and her husband, she was preceded in death by one brother Carl Gene Stephens, and two sisters-in-law, Anita Stephens, and Joan Stephens.
Memorial contributions may be made to the Washburn Back Pack Program, and entrusted to the White Funeral Home and Crematory, P.O. Box 890, Cassville, MO 65625.
Funeral services were held at 11 a.m. on Friday, June 6, 2014, at the White Funeral Home and Crematory, Cassville, with Pastor Bob Neeley and Reverend Ronnie Howerton officiating. Burial followed at the Washburn Prairie Cemetery. The family received friends on June 5, from 6 to 8 p.m. at the funeral home.
