Christine M. Trotter
Christine M. Trotter, 65, of Exeter, passed away June 6, 2014, in her home.
She was born April 5, 1949, in Madison, Wis., the daughter of Benjamin Swetmore and Iona (Wheelock) Weitzel. On Dec. 20, 1975, in Perth, Western Australia, she was united in marriage to Steven F. Trotter, who preceded her in death on Dec. 20, 2000. Also preceding her in death were her parents and one brother, John Weitzel.
Survivors include: one daughter, Louise (Trotter) Sartin and her husband, Curtis, of Exeter; two sons, Cosmas Trotter, of Pea Ridge, Ark., and Titus Trotter, of Cassville; two stepdaughters, Janice Trotter, of London, England, and Felicity (Trotter) Nesbitt and her husband, Skip, of Cassville; one stepson, Damian Trotter, of Springfield; three sisters, Judy Newfield, of Connecticut, Debbie Washa and her husband, Chuck, of Wisconsin, and Roxana Calkins and her husband, Darell, of Minnesota; two brothers, Jim Weitzel and his wife, Judy, of Wisconsin, and Bill Weitzel and his wife, Judy, of Wisconsin; and five grandchildren.
She was a 1967 graduate of Waunakee High School in Waunakee, Wis. In February 1975, she moved to Australia, where she met her husband, Steven. In September 1983, they moved to Missouri, where they owned and operated Trotter's Village Market in Exeter for 18 years. She graduated from the Franklin Technology Center in Joplin in June 2003, with her practical nursing degree. From April 2004 to February 2011, she was employed by St. John's Hospital-Cassville as an LPN and also worked at St. Mary's Hospital in Rogers, Ark. She was a hospice volunteer for Mercy Hospice from 2011 until her death.
Funeral services were held Tuesday in Fohn Funeral Home, Cassville. Father John Braun conducted the services. Burial was at Maplewood Cemetery, Exeter.
