Southwest Missouri native named Cassville Democrat reporter; McKenzie a University of Arkansas, Webb City High School alumna
Caitlin McKenzie began her duties Monday as a staff writer of the Cassville Democrat.
McKenzie, a Webb City High School graduate, graduated from the University of Arkansas last month. She was a staff writer for the Arkansas Traveler, the University of Arkansas' campus newspaper.
"I am so honored to be a part of such an excellent team of reporters and editors who are constantly working to better the Cassville Democrat," McKenzie said. "I am thrilled to be back in southwest Missouri, and look forward to reporting for the people
of Barry County."
The appointment was made by Publisher Jacob Brower and Editor Kyle Troutman.
"We are excited to have Caitlin on board," Brower said. "The thing that stuck out to Kyle and I during the interview process was her talent and enthusiasm. I believe she will be a great asset to the community."
McKenzie earned a bachelor's degree in print journalism in May. During her time in Fayetteville, McKenzie wrote feature stories for the Traveler. Her reporting won several awards from the Arkansas Collegiate Media Associate.
In her free time, McKenzie enjoys listening to the Arctic Monkeys and cheering for the Arkansas Razorbacks and the St. Louis Cardinals.
