John W. Garrison
John W. Garrison, 80, of Wheaton, passed away Tuesday, May 20, 2014, at Mercy Hospital in Joplin, He was born in McDonald County, Nov. 6, 1933, to John and Blanche (Aubrey) Garrison. He served his country for two years in the U.S. Army. He worked for Burlington Northern Railroad in Kansas City for 36 years, retiring in 1993. He moved back to this area after retirement and was an avid cattleman.
Survivors include: his wife, Wilma; four children, Jeffery Garrison Mayfield and his wife, Teresa, of Kansas City, Lavonne Garrison Moore and her husband, C. Richard, III, of Roanoke, Va., Danone Zupko, of Independence, and Mary Susan Charlene Garrison, of Las Vegas, Nev.; four grandchildren; four step granddaughters; one great-grandchild; seven step-great grandchildren; one brother, John Austin Garrison, of Columbia; and two sisters, Edna Garrison Lukon, of Monett, and Sharon Garrison Brown, of Peculiar.
He was preceded in death by his parents; three brothers, Roland, Kelly and Kenneth and five sisters, Cora Marshall, Doris Garrison, Mabell Whitney, Louise Massey and Norma Swinehart.
Funeral services were held Friday in McQueen Funeral Home, Wheaton. Max Ruhl conducted the services. Burial with military honors was at Muncie Chapel Cemetery, Wheaton.
