Report: Vehicle attempted to climb steep embankment

A Kansas man was seriously injured Tuesday when his all-terrain vehicle crashed in Mark Twain National Forest.

According to the Highway Patrol report, Bradford M. Ray, 61, of Olathe, Kan., was riding an ATV and attempted to climb a steep embankment. The angle of the embankment proved too much, and the vehicle turned over backwards on top of Ray.

He was transported by helicopter to Cox South Hospital in Springfield for treatment.

The highway patrol report stated that he was not wearing a helmet when the crash occurred.
