Melvin Hines, 91, of Cassville, passed away Tuesday, May 13, 2014, in Aurora Nursing Center, Aurora.
He was born Jan. 1, 1923, in Vernon, Texas, the son of Clarence B. and Mitte (Webb) Hines. On Nov. 2, 1944, in Carlsbad, N.M., he was united in marriage to Wilma Lea Loftis, who preceded him in death on Sept. 20, 2008. Also preceding him in death were his parents and one son, Larry Bruce Hines.
Survivors include: one sister, Evelyn Mason, of Olton, Texas, and one granddaughter.
He grew up in Olton, Texas, where he graduated from high school. During World War II, he served in the U.S. Air Force in Lubbock, Texas. He worked for Wheaton Oil and was also a cattle and chicken farmer.
Services were held Thursday, May 15 in Mill Street Church of Christ, Cassville, under direction of Fohn Funeral Home, Cassville. Bob Deffenbaugh conducted the services.
