James Ray "Jim" Rodrock

James Ray "Jim" Rodrock, 80, of Shell Knob, passed away Wednesday, May 7, 2014, in Missouri Veterans Home, Mt. Vernon.

He was born April 25, 1934, in Kincaid, Kan., the son of Howard H. and Nannie E. (Holeman) Fielder. In March 1998, he was united in marriage to Laura (Rochovansky) Alred, who preceded him in death on Aug. 4, 2013. Also preceding him in death were his parents.

Survivors include: two brothers, Stephen Fielder and his wife, Flora, of Longton, Kan., and David Fielder and his wife, Lisa, of Shell Knob; and one sister, Beth Slinkard and her husband, Jim, of Klamath Falls, Ore.

He grew up and graduated from high school in Kansas. He served in the U.S. Army. In October 1964, he moved from Bronson, Kan., to Shell Knob where he was a carpenter, working for Waldemar Oswald. He was a member of Bridgeway Assembly of God Church in Shell Knob. He was one of the driving forces in making Central Crossing Fire Department what it is today. He and the Oswald crew built fire house #4 on YY and County Line Road and also #3 on 39 South and H Highway at no expense.

Funeral services were held Saturday in Fohn Funeral Home, Shell Knob. Pastor Lonnie Stockton conducted the services. Burial was at Painter Cemetery, Shell Knob.
