Corps to open boat ramp at Viney Creek
While the Viney Creek Recreation Area will remain closed, the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers in Little Rock has announced the boat launch ramp near the park's entrance will remain open for lake access. Camping and day use activities will still be prohibited, but the Corps is in the process of leasing the park to keep it open. For more information, people may call 417-334-4101.
Exeter to host city-wide yard sale, clean-up day
The city of Exeter is hosting its annual city-wide yard sale on May 3, and anyone interested in participating may visit city hall or call 417-835-2823. There is no fee to participate, and a list of sales and addresses will be available at city hall. Following the yard sale, the city will host its annual clean-up day on May 6. To arrange pickup of appliances or televisions, people may call city hall.
SONbeam Preschool hosting Open House
The Cassville United Methodist Church's SONbeam Preschool will host an Open House on April 24 from 6-7 p.m. Parents may meet the teachers and see the facilities. Children who enter must be 3 years of age by Aug. 1.
CHS agriculture department, FFA to host plant sale
The Cassville Agriculture Department and FFA chapter will be hosting its greenhouse plant sale from April 28 to May 2, from 8 a.m. to 4:30 p.m., at the greenhouse on the back side of the Cassville High School campus. Library showing movie, hosting Bingo night
On April 25 at 4 p.m., the Cassville Branch Library will be showing "The Dog who saved Easter," rated PG. Attendees should bring their own snacks and drinks. On April 29 at 6 p.m., the Cassville Branch Library will have its monthly 'Family Bingo' night. Refreshments will be provided.
Church hosting National Day of Prayer breakfast
The First Baptist Church in Cassville is hosting a National Day of Prayer breakfast on May 1, with doors opening at 6:30 a.m. and a prayer service from 7-8 a.m. The featured speaker is Ed Moore, founder and director of Prayer Force One. Cassville Senior Center collecting garage sale items
The Cassville Senior Center is collecting items for its semi-annual garage sale. Donated items may be dropped off at the center, located at 1111 Fair St. in Cassville. All proceeds from the upcoming garage sale will benefit the center. Large and small, gently-used items will be accepted.
Haven of the Ozarks hosts Obedience classes
Haven of the Ozarks will host Dog Obedience classes, which are being taught by Tristan Jolivetter, a professional trainer. Classes are held each Saturday, with a beginner class at 1 p.m. and an intermediate class at 2 p.m. Each class lasts one hour, and those interested may call the Haven at 417-569-6176. Classes are held in the Barbara Williams Training Center at Haven of the Ozarks, located one mile west of Cassville on Highway 86, with signs directing the rest of the way.
D.A.R.E. Buddy Bass Tournament date set
The Drug and Alcohol Resistance Education group, also known as D.A.R.E., will host the Buddy Bass Fishing Tournament on April 26 from 7 a.m. to 3 p.m. at the Cape Fair Marina on Table Rock Lake. Fees are $50 per boat, with a 70 percent payback, and $10 for an optional big bass, with 100 percent payback. Early entries will be accepted at the Marina leading up to the event. Entries may be mailed to Cape Fair Marina, 142 Sturgis Lane, Reeds Spring, MO 65737. Checks should be made payable to Barry County D.A.R.E.
