Benefit concert to help local family

A benefit concert is scheduled for April 22 at 7 p.m. at the Community Faith Chapel Church, located at 13372 Highway 248, for the Wyatt and Mandy Clevenger family. The family's home was destroyed by fire on March 27. Doors will open at 6 p.m. and the concert will start at 7 p.m., with New Road and Final Destination performing. There is no admission charge, but donations are encouraged, and 100 percent of the money collected will go to the Clevenger family. For more information, people may call 417-737-0635.

2nd Annual Earth Day Clean-Up set for Tuesday

The city of Cassville and the Cassville Area Chamber of Commerce are hosting the 2nd Annual Earth Day Clean-Up Event on April 22. Anyone interested in participating should meet at the Cassville City Park between 3-5:30 p.m. to be given an area to clean. People should also sign up before April 22 by calling the Chamber of Commerce at 417-847-2814, or Alderwoman Ann Hennigan at 417-342-6615.

Farmer's Market opens on Saturday

The Farmer's Market will be open for the first time this year on April 19 from 8 a.m. to noon on the courthouse square in Cassville. There will be about four or five vendors this week selling baked goods and vegetables, and as the season progresses, about 8-9 vendors will be at the Farmer's Market each Saturday, with more fresh fruits and vegetables available as the season goes on. Cassville Branch Library hosting Open House

The Cassville Branch Library will host an Open House at 2 p.m. on April 17, and a special showing of the movie "Philomena" will take place at 6 p.m. The movie is rated PG-13, and attendees should bring their own drinks and snacks.

New Hope Baptist Church hosting sunrise service

New Hope Baptist Church will host a sunrise service on Easter Sunday at 8 a.m. Breakfast will follow, and a regular service will be held after breakfast, with Sunday School at 10 a.m. and worship at 11 a.m. The church is located on Highway W, three miles west of Highway 37 and 3/4 miles north to Farm Road 1052.

Easter service to be held at RRSP Amphitheater

The Barry County Southern Baptist Association will host an Easter Sunday worship service at the Roaring River State Park Amphitheater at 9 a.m. If weather is bad, the service will be held in the Emory Melton Conference Center. The Sunday services for campers run each week from April 20 to Aug. 31, and the 37 missions and churches of the Barry County Southern Baptist Association lead the services. The association has held services at the park since 1978, and the highest attendance for any one service was 74 on July 7, 2013. About 30 people attend each service on average. SONbeam Preschool hosting Open House

The Cassville United Methodist Church's SONbeam Preschool will host an Open House on April 24 from 6-7 p.m. Parents may meet the teachers and see the facilities. Children who enter must be three years of age by Aug. 1.

Haven of the Ozarks hosts Obedience classes

Haven of the Ozarks will host Dog Obedience classes, which are being taught by Tristan Jolivetter, a professional trainer. Classes are held each Saturday, with a beginner class at 1 p.m. and an intermediate class at 2 p.m. Each class lasts one hour, and those interested may call the Haven at 417-569-6176. Classes are held in the Barbara Williams Training Center at Haven of the Ozarks, located one mile west of Cassville on Highway 86, with signs directing the rest of the way.

D.A.R.E. Buddy Bass Tournament date set

The Drug and Alcohol Resistance Education group, also known as D.A.R.E., will host the Buddy Bass Fishing Tournament on April 26 from 7 a.m. to 3 p.m. at the Cape Fair Marina on Table Rock Lake. Fees are $50 per boat, with a 70 percent payback, and $10 for an optional big bass, with 100 percent payback. Early entries will be accepted at the Marina leading up to the event. Entries may be mailed to Cape Fair Marina, 142 Sturgis Lane, Reeds Spring, MO 65737. Checks should be made payable to Barry County D.A.R.E. Date set for CHS Alumni Banquet

The Cassville High School Alumni Association will host its annual Alumni Banquet on May 24 at 6 p.m. Any classes hosting a reunion in conjunction with the banquet are asked to call Kay Baker, alumni association president, at 417-547-4219.
