Cassville, Exeter students attend Sophomore Pilgrimage
The Silver Leaf Benefit Club of Cassville is has announced the names of the two high school sophomores who represented Cassville and Exeter High Schools at the annual General Federation of Women's Clubs Sophomore Pilgrimage in Jefferson City on April 8.
Representing Cassville High School was Zachary Denton, son of Duke and Mary Denton, of Shell Knob.
William Nolte, son of Fred and Sabryna Nolte, represented Exeter High School.
Sophomore Pilgrims are selected on the basis of their leadership, citizenship and service. The purpose of the annual pilgrimage is to increase knowledge of government, promote leadership and citizenship and provide a view of state government in action.
After a tour of the state capitol, the students had lunch with the top six elected officials and the chief justice of the Missouri Supreme Court. The officials spoke on the responsibilities of their offices.
The Sophomore Pilgrimage is sponsored by the Missouri Federated Women's Clubs, and the Silver Leaf Benefit Club is a member of the state organization.
