James William Carlson
James William Carlson, 65, of Cassville, passed away Sunday, April 13, 2014, in the Missouri Veterans Home, Mt. Vernon.
He was born May 9, 1948, in Dowagiac, Mich., the son of James O. and Marcella Ann (Baugher) Carlson. On Nov. 20, 1970, in Abilene, Kan., he was united in marriage to Deborah "Debbie" (Cook), and she survives.
Additional survivors include: his mother Marcella Swofford, of St. Louis; one son, Jimmy Carlson and his wife, Jamie, of Cassville; two daughters, Candi Dunivant and her husband, Jimmy, of Butterfield; Tonia Guettler and her husband, Rich, of California; one brother, Paul Carlson, of Apple Valley, Calif.; two half brothers, Jim Applebee, of England, and Joel Carlson, of St. Louis; one sister, Sandra Threadgill, of High Ridge; eight grandchildren; and one great-grandson.
Preceding him in death was his father James O. Carlson.
He grew up in St. Louis. During the Vietnam War, he joined the U.S. Army, serving from 1967 to 1973. For several years, he was employed as a dry wall finisher for Allied Trades, Union 203. In 1974, he and his family moved to Cassville. He was of the Baptist faith.
Funeral services will be held at 1 p.m. Friday in Fohn Funeral Home, Cassville. Pastor Travis Fisher will conduct the services. Burial with military honors will be in Maplewood Cemetery, Exeter.
The family will receive friends from 6 to 8 p.m. Thursday in Fohn Funeral Home.
