Nina "Dotson" Melton

Nina Mary (Dotson) Melton, of Springfield, formerly of Barry County. passed away on March 26, 2014. She was born in Jacket, Mo., to Oscar L. Dotson and Mable Dotson, one of 10 children. She moved to San Francisco during WWII to help in the war efforts. She worked on the Treasure Island Naval Base, where she met her husband Bertram H. Melton. After her divorce, she had a career as a real estate agent.

Survivors include: her sons, Gary Melton, of Branson, and Philip Melton and his wife, Brenda, of Naples, Fla.; her siblings Eula Mills, of Cassville, Kenny Dotson, of Cassville, Glenna Cron, of Kansas City, Lela Foster, of Kansas City, and Jean Cogin, of Phoenix Ariz.; five grandchildren; and nine great-grandchildren.

She is predeceased by her parents, Oscar and Mabel Dotson; and her siblings Hazel Levi, Jim Dotson, Ralph Dotson, Wilma Price, and Robert Dotson.

Funeral services were held Monday, March 31 at the Bennett-Wormington Funeral Home in Monett with graveside services followed at Arnhart Cemetery, Purdy.
