Mary Lou Mackler
Mary Lou Mackler, 94, died April 5, 2014.
She was preceded in death by her sister Sarabel Chambliss and husband,
Survivors include: a daughter, Judy Schlichtman, and her husband, Gene, of Marathon, Fla., formerly of Cassville; three grandchildren, Barb Schlichtman and her husband, Michael, of Peaks Island, Maine; Mary Jane Schreur, and her husband, Tim, of Holland, Mich.; and Mike Schlichtman, and his wife, Lisa, of Steamboat Springs, Colo.; and six great-grandchildren.
She was born on Oct. 27, 1919, in Kansas City, Mo. She worked in the health community all her life except during World War II when she was employed by the San Diego Naval Lab. After the war, she worked in private practice in both Sweet Springs, Mo., and Corpus Christi, Texas. While in the Sweet Springs community, she and Ralph farmed 19 years on acreage that is now part of the Blind Pony Lake Conservation Area.
She was a long-time member of the Baptist church in both Sweet Springs and Corpus Christi, Texas.
Her compassionate nature and selfless service to the care of others endeared her to many. She interpreted life as being able to care for all in need.
A graveside service will be held at 10:30 a.m. April 14 at Ridge Park Cemetery in Marshall, Mo., followed by a lunch at 12:30 p.m. at Missouri Valley College. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to Lives Under Construction Boys Ranch, 296 Boys Ranch Rd., Lampe, MO 65681.
