Cassville XC to host 30K fundraiser
The Cassville cross-country team will host a 30K Cassville Classic and Crystal Springs 2-mile Fun Run fundraiser on April 5. There are nine male and female divisions for the 30K and seven divisions for the two-mile run with the top three finishers in each division receiving medals. All race entrants will receive a Cassville Classic T-shirt. Registration cost is $40 for individuals in the 30K and $30 for the Fun Run. An entry form may be found at www.cassville-democrat.com. Wheaton High School to host dodgeball tourney
The Wheaton girls basketball team will host a co-ed dodgeball tournament on April 19. The six-person teams must contain at least two female participants. Winners will be crowned in three divisions: fourth to sixth grade, seventh to ninth grade and 10th grade to adults. The cost is $15 per person, with each team member receiving a T-shirt. Senior Center to host golf tourney in Shell Knob
Central Crossing Senior Center will hold its 8th annual golf benefit on May 17, at Kings River Golf Course in Shell Knob. The two-person scramble with a shotgun start is set for 9 a.m. The cost is $50 per person and includes cart. There will be prizes, ditty bags and free lunch. Cassville golf team to host fundraising scramble
The Cassville Wildcats golf team will host a fundraiser tournament on April 19. The tourney will use a four-person scramble format and the cost is $35 per person for course members and $50 per person for non-members. There will be closest-to-the-pin awards, a hole-in-one car and food and T-shirts for all participants. Southwest to sponsor youth volleyball camp
Southwest High School will sponsor a youth volleyball camp April 15-17 at the high school gym. The event, which runs 3:30-5 p.m. daily, is open to girls and boys from kindergarten through sixth grade. The cost is $25 and includes a T-shirt, certificate and free admission ticket to a future high school game. The camp is run by coaches Steve Voyak and Tamara McNabb and the Lady Trojan high school players. 2014 Southwest yearbook order forms available
Order forms for the 2014 Southwest School Yearbook are available now at all campus buildings, according to advisor Steve Voyak. The cost of the 128-page publication is $30. Club and sports icons are available for $5 each. Name personalization is also available for $5. The deadline to order is May 31. Also, a limited number of old yearbooks are available at a discounted rate. The staff is still accepting advertising sponsorships that range in price from $50 to $250. Southwest to host JV volleyball tournament Aug. 30
Southwest High School in Washburn plans to host a junior varsity volleyball tournament on Aug. 30. The cost is $50 and each team would be guaranteed three or four matches. Freshman teams would be welcome in the field as well. Purdy summer baseball and softball signups announced
Purdy youth interested in signing up for summer baseball and softball programs will have two opportunities. Signup dates are: March 29, from 9 a.m. to noon, and April 1, from 4:30-7:30 p.m. All signups will be held at Purdy High School near the gymnasium, and the cost is $20 per child.
