Exeter hosting kindergarten screenings

Parents of kindergartners starting school at Exeter Elementary next year should see Rhonda or Mr. Jordan at the elementary office to set up a kindergarten screening appointment. Parents must have an appointment to have a child screened. Enrollment packets will be available to pick up prior to screening. To participate in screenings, parents should bring: a birth certificate, immunization record, proof of residency (anything with a physical address, such as a piece of mail) and the child's Social Security number. Children must be age 5 on or before July 31, 2014, to enter Kindergarten. Children must be age 4 on or before July 31, 2014, to enter pre-kindergarten.

Cassville R-4 School district sets parent/teacher conference dates

The Cassville R-4 School District will host parent/teacher conferences on March 26 and March 27 from 3:30-6 p.m. on both days. Parents may contact their child's school to schedule a conference time. Numbers are as follows: primary school, 417-847-2445; intermediate school, 417-847-4010; middle school, 417-847-3136; and high school, 417-847-3137.

Barry County Retired School Personnel to host meeting

The Barry County Retired School Personnel will have its monthly meeting on March 28 at the St. John's Lutheran Church in Monett. The social and snack time will be at 10 a.m. and the business meeting following at 10:30 a.m. The guest speaker is Jacob Brower, publisher of The Monett Times and Cassville Democrat. Attendees should bring pop-tabs.

Second notices for assessments mailed

Sherry Sears, Barry County assessor, announced that the second notice reminders for the 2014 personal property and business assessment sheets will be mailed out on March 28 in the form of a post card. Those who did not receive an assessment sheet in January, or receive a second notice post card from the assessor's office, should contact the office at 417-847-2613 to get assessed before the deadline and avoid a late assessment penalty. New residents who do not receive a form may also call the assessor's office to request one, or drop by the office and get help completing one.

Cassville R-4 to host information meetings on bond issue

The Cassville R-4 School District will host two informational meetings on its bond issue plans and projects. The meetings will be April 1 at 6 p.m., in the Middle School cafeteria, and April 3 at 6 p.m., in the High School cafeteria.

Haven of the Ozarks hosts Dog Obedience classes

Haven of the Ozarks will host Dog Obedience classes, which are being taught by Tristan Jolivetter, a professional trainer. Classes are held each Saturday, with a beginner class at 1 p.m. and an intermediate class at 2 p.m. Each class lasts one hour, and those interested may call the Haven at 417-569-6176. Classes are held in the Barbara Williams Training Center at Haven of the Ozarks, located one mile west of Cassville on Highway 86, with signs directing the rest of the way.

Cassville hosting kindergarten enrollment

The Cassville R-4 School District will host kindergarten enrollment on April 10, from noon to 5 p.m., and April 11, from 7 a.m. to 4 p.m. at the Primary School. Parents of children who will be 5 years old by Aug. 1, 2014, should bring the following to complete enrollment: birth certificate, Social Security card, immunization record, proof of residency (in the form of a utility bill with name and address, real estate contract, rental agreement, etc.) and parent identification. Methodist Women's Group hosting lunch

The United Methodist Women's Group will host their Annual Spring Salad and Casserole Lunch. The lunch will be held on April 3 at the church in the Fellowship Hall. The hours of service are 11 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. and the cost of the meal is $7. The United Methodist Church is located at 7th Street and Gravel Street in Cassville. Proceeds from the lunch will be used on various church projects.

D.A.R.E. Buddy Bass Tournament date set

The Drug and Alcohol Resistance Education group, also known as D.A.R.E., will host the Buddy Bass Fishing Tournament on April 26 from 7 a.m. to 3 p.m. at the Cape Fair Marina on Table Rock Lake. Fees are $50 per boat, with a 70 percent payback, and $10 for an optional big bass, with 100 percent payback. Early entries will be accepted at the Marina leading up to the event. Entries may be mailed to Cape Fair Marina, 142 Sturgis Lane, Reeds Spring, MO 65737. Checks should be made payable to Barry County D.A.R.E. Date set for CHS Alumni Banquet

The Cassville High School Alumni Association will host its annual Alumni Banquet on May 24 at 6 p.m. Any classes hosting a reunion in conjunction with the banquet are asked to call Kay Baker, alumni association president, at 417-547-4219.
