Geraldine Diamond Brooks Aldridge passed on March 17, 2014, at the Oklahoma Heart Hospital in Edmond, Okla.
She was born June 3, 1921, in Cato to John and Virginia Brooks. She was the youngest of seven children who have all preceded her in death. She married Estel James Aldridge on Aug. 26, 1944, and celebrated 59 years together before Estel preceded her in death. She moved to Edmond, Okla., in 2006 to live close to her daughter, Barbara and son-in-law, Gary. She was a member of the Mill Street Church of Christ in Cassville and the Memorial Road Church of Christ in Edmond, Okla.
Survivors include: her two daughters, Barbara Sue Lyons and her husband, Gary, of Edmond, Okla., and Beverly Ann Schafer and her husband, Ray, of Eldon, Iowa. Two grandchildren; and seven great-grandchildren.
She graduated from Southwest Baptist College in 1941, and Drury College in Springfield in 1961. She began her teaching career in the Gaddis Rural School in 1937. She taught other rural schools, including Exeter and Southwest, retiring in 1981 after 35 years. She was a member of the Retired Teachers' Association.
Graveside services were Saturday at the Maplewood Cemetery, Exeter, with Rick Hendrix officiating.
