Johny Lee Payne, 59, of Monett, passed away on Monday, Feb. 17, 2014, at Mercy Hospital in Cassville. He was born on June 3, 1954, in South Gate Calif., the son of Beulah (Boyd) Wells and the late Charlie B. Payne.

He was employed as a security guard at George's Processing in Butterfield. He was a member of the Calvary Baptist Church in Monett and retired from the U.S. Air Force, where he served his country in Korea.

Survivors include: one daughter, Amy Burton, of Purdy; his mother, Beulah Wells, of Monett; three sisters, Deb Feather, of Sarcoxie, Pam Roller, of Purdy, and Sherri Lynn Phillips, of Lamar; four grandchildren; five step- sisters, Barbra Hahn, of Carthage, Ruthie Thomas, of Cassville, Charlette Neimeyer, of Lake of the Ozark, Joy Burns, of Tulsa Okla., and Patsy Cooper, of Kansas City; and one step- brother, Doug Wells, of Neosho.

He was preceded in death by his father, Charlie, and one sister, Diane Payne.

Funeral services were held on Friday at the Bennett-Wormington Funeral Chapel in Monett. Burial was at the Missouri Veterans Cemetery in Springfield, Mo.

Arrangements were under the care of Bennett-Wormington Funeral Home in Monett.
