Gary W. Caddell, 62, of Shell Knob, passed away on Wednesday, Feb. 5, 2014, at Mercy Hospital, Springfield. He was born on Aug. 12, 1951, in Kansas City, son of Lawrence E. and Alberta (Landis) Caddell. He was a graduate of Grandview High School in 1969, in Grandview. On April 3, 1976, he was united in marriage to Sharon Peterson, in Kansas City. He worked as a mechanical designer with engineering firms such as Henderson Engineers, of Lenexa, Kansas, Smith & Boucher, of Overland Park, Kan., and most recently Benchmark Group of Rogers, Arkansas. Gary and his wife Sharon, were both baptized in 1992 at the Central Freewill Baptist Church in Grandview. In 2000, he moved his family to the lake in Shell Knob, where his family owned and operated the Green Cocoon Lakeside Cabins.

Survivors include: his wife of 37 years, Sharon, of Shell Knob; two sons, Robert Scott Caddell and his fiancÚ, Robin Reed, of Sunrise Beach, and Daniel Wayne Caddell, of Jenkins; two daughters, Jessi Lynn Hunsucker and her husband, Dave, of Jenkins, Sara Beth Caddell, of Aurora; his parents, Lawrence and Alberta Caddell, of Shell Knob; his mother-in-law, Anna Peterson; nine grandchildren; three brothers, Terry Caddell and Jerry Caddell, both of Shell Knob, and Barry Caddell, of Peculiar; and one sister, Sheri Brooks, of Perry, Kan.

He was preceded in death by his grandparents, one infant son, and his father-in-law, Farris Peterson.

A celebration of life was held Saturday at the Lakeside Christian Church, Shell Knob, with Pastor Chet Shaw officiating.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made to Sharon Caddell for an established Memorial Educational Fund for his grandchildren and entrusted to the White Funeral Home, P.O. Box 890, Cassville, MO 65625.
