Two teachers retired and two resigned at the Purdy School District in January.

The Purdy Board of Education accepted the retirements of two middle school teachers: Gary W. West and Julie Jeanay Price. West began teaching in Purdy in August 2002. Price began teaching in Purdy in August 2007.

Middle school teacher Ryan Kaden turned in his resignation. Kaden is moving for his wife to take a university position. He began working for the district in August 2005.

Stephanie Ray, who served as softball coach in addition to teaching at the elementary level, also resigned to pursue a coaching career on the college level, according to school board secretary Anna Marie Erwin. Ray said she is "overwhelmed with options" and is not ready to speak on record at this time.

Both resignations go into effect at the end of the current school.

Ron Gray resigned as a bus driver, effective Jan. 17, citing his move from the district. Donnie Dodson was hired to fill the vacancy and started on Jan. 30.
