Lorena "Joyce" Stoops, 85, of Shell Knob, passed away on Thursday, Jan. 30, 2014, at Mercy Hospital in Springfield,

She was born on Jan. 16, 1929, in Talladega, Ala., daughter of Alvin and Maxie (Cooper) Haywood. In 1948, she was married to Fred Hill, and to this union four children were born. She worked as a beautician. In 1967, she was united in marriage to Jesse W. Stoops in Buena Park, Calif. He preceded her in death on Nov. 25, 1990.

In addition to her parents and her husband she was preceded in death by two sisters, Clara Vice-Daughtery and Essie Pearl Haywood (infant); three brothers, Alvin Haywood Jr., Paul Franklin Haywood, and Jesse Howard Haywood (age 1); and one daughter-in-law, Kathleen Hill.

Survivors include: two sons, Gene Hill, and Jeff Hill and his wife, Chris, all of Shell Knob; two daughters, Joy Johnson and her husband, John, and Julie Johnson, all of Shell Knob; two stepsons, Kenny Stoops, of Ozark, and Paul Stoops, of Dallas, Texas; one sister, Christine Champion; and four brothers, Doyle, Richard, Ralph and Tommy Haywood; 26 grandchildren; and 21 great-grandchildren.

A memorial service will be held on Saturday, Feb. 15, at 3 p.m. at the Kingdom Hall of Jehovah's Witnesses in Shell Knob with Ken Welsh officiating.

The family requests that memorials be made to the First Responders in Shell Knob or the Worldwide Work of Jehovah's Witnesses. They may be entrusted to the White Funeral Home, Box 890, Cassville, MO 65625.
