Mary Eleanor (MacLachlan) Leitch, 77, of Rocky Comfort, passed away Friday, Jan. 24, 2014, in Freeman Hospital West in Joplin.

She was born Dec. 3, 1936, in Lakewood, Ohio, the daughter of James C. and Agnes (Aaron) MacLachlan. On Nov. 27, 1964, in Bedford Heights, Ohio, she was united in marriage to David Leitch, who preceded her in death on July 8, 2005. Also preceding her in death were her parents.

Survivors include: one son, Brian Leitch and his wife, Danielle, of Rogers, Ark.; one daughter Laurie Bennett and her husband, Gene, of Rocky Comfort; five grandchildren; and three great-grandchildren.

She grew up and received her education in Lakewood, Ohio, graduating from John Adams High School. After moving to Rocky Comfort in 1970, she was employed at a couple of jobs including working as secretary at Rocky Comfort School before she began working for Newton County Division of Family Services as a clerk typist, retiring from there around 1999. She also helped out at the Wheaton Funeral Home. She was a member of Prosperity Southern Baptist Church, Neosho Laureate Gamma Phi Chapter of Beta Sigma Phi, and Fern Chapter of the Eastern Star in Neosho.

Graveside services were held today (Wednesday) at Rocky Comfort Cemetery, under direction of McQueen Funeral Home, Wheaton. Pastor Frank Smith and Brother George Gore conducted the services.
