JD Fletcher, age 83, of Eagle Rock, Missouri, passed away Wednesday, January 22, 2014, in Mercy Hospital, with Jeff and Kara at his side.
He was born November 9, 1930, in Washburn, Missouri, the son of Howard and Zola (Cline) Fletcher, who preceded him in death.
Survivors include: two sons, Jeff Fletcher and his wife, Kara, and David Fletcher, all of Eagle Rock, Missouri. On November 4, 1967, he was united in marriage to JoAnn Anderson, who survives of Eagle Rock.
Other survivors include: Gerald Fletcher and his wife, Mary Jo, of Cassville, Missouri, and Jim Fletcher, of Louisville, Kentucky; and two grandchildren, Riley and Carter Fletcher, of Eagle Rock, Missouri.
JD was raised in Washburn, Missouri, graduating from Southwest High School in Washburn. In December of 1951, he joined the United States Air Force serving until January of 1954. After returning home, JD worked for the Barry County ASC office and owned and operated a service station in Washburn. In 1959, he opened a Bait and Tackle Shop and guide service. He later became the owner of Devil's Dive Resort in Eagle Rock, Missouri. His parents also owned Fletcher's Lakeside Motel, where All Faith United Methodist Church stands today.
Well known as an avid fisherman and fishing guide, he made many friends over the years. Being with family, friends and fishing were the things he enjoyed most in life.
Funeral services were held at 1 p.m. Monday, January 27, 2014, in All Faith United Methodist Church, Eagle Rock, Missouri, under direction of Fohn Funeral Home, Cassville. Pastor Karen Tutak conducted the services. Visitation was held from 3 to 5 p.m. Sunday in Fohn Funeral Home, Cassville, Missouri.
