JoAnne Smith, 82, of Holiday Island, Ark., passed away on Sunday, Jan. 26, 2014, at Brighton Ridge in Eureka Springs, Ark. She was born on Dec. 1, 1931, daughter of John and Belle (Wilhite) Black at Forrest City, Ark. On Aug. 8, 1980, she was united in marriage to Robert Smith in Walhalla, S.C. She volunteered often at the Haven of the Ozarks in Cassville.

Survivors include: two sons, Danny Johnston and his wife, Beth, of Marietta, Ga., and Matt Johnston and his wife, Josephine, of Roswell, Ga.; one daughter, Tara Teague, of Spartanburg, S.C.; her daughter-in-law, Janice, of Cumming, Ga.; one step-son, Charles Smith, of Atlanta, Ga.; two step-daughters, Karon Long and Sharon Smith, both of Atlanta, Ga.; seven grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Robert; one son, Tevis Johnston; and three brothers, Everett Black, Owen Black, and Cecil Black.

Memorial services will be held at 11 a.m. on Jan. 30 at the White Funeral Home and Crematory with Pastor Jamie Smith officiating. Cremation arrangements are under the direction of the White Funeral Home and Crematory, Cassville.
