Mayor asks business to close or dim lights in Metz's honor

A prominent business owner in Cassville, Lou Metz, died recently, and Cassville Mayor Bill Shiveley has issued a proclamation asking local businesses to close or dim the lights today in his honor.

"I, Bill Shiveley, mayor of the city of Cassville, in sincere appreciation of his services to the citizens of Cassville, do hereby encourage Cassville businesses to close from 11 a.m. to noon on [Wednesday, Jan. 29], in honor of Louis Metz and his contributions to the city of Cassville," Shiveley said.

Metz owned Sater's pharmacy, located on Main Street in Cassville, an avid supporter of the local Habitat for Humanity chapter and an active member of Cassville's First Baptist Church.

Metz's funeral will be today at 11 a.m. at the First Baptist Church, located at 602 West Street.
