Award-winning journalist to lead newsroom

Kyle Troutman began his duties Monday as editor of the Cassville Democrat.

Troutman was named editor after nearly three years as a staff writer for The Daily Citizen in Searcy, Ark.

"I am honored and excited to be named editor of the Cassville Democrat," Troutman said. "I hope to use my experiences to make the Cassville Democrat the best news source it can be, devoted to the people of Barry County."

The appointment was made by Publisher Jacob Brower, Troutman's former editor at The Daily Citizen.

"After working closely with Kyle over the years, I knew he would be perfect for this position," he said. "He will be a great addition to this newspaper and this community."

During his time in Searcy, Troutman won numerous awards for his reporting, photography and opinion writing from the Arkansas Press Association and the Arkansas Associated Press. The Daily Citizen also won general excellence and sweepstakes -- the state's highest honors -- each year Troutman was on staff.

A graduate of Little Rock Central High School in Little Rock, Ark.; Troutman graduated from the University of Arkansas at Little Rock with a bachelor's degree in print journalism in 2012.
