Barry County Soils and Crops Conference slated for Jan. 28

Speakers to focus on livestock, wheat, weeds

The 85th annual Barry County Soils and Crops Conference will be held from 6 to 9 p.m. on Tuesday, Jan. 28, 6 to 9 p.m. at the Butterfield Community Center. The meeting will be preceded by a free meal starting at 6:15 p.m.

Organized by Barry County University of Missouri Extension, this long-running educational event has provided county agricultural producers with research-based farming information.

Topics presented include:

* Fine Tuning Your Wheat Production Management, presented by Jill Scheidt, MU agronomy specialist from Lamar;

* What Have Bull Soundness Exams Taught Us?, presented by Dr. Voyd Brown, Barry County Veterinary Service in Cassville;

* Weighing the Pros and Cons of Roundup Ready Alfalfa, presented by Tim Schnakenberg, MU agronomy specialist from the Galena office.

The meeting and meal is co-sponsored by the Barry County Extension Council, Cassville Chamber of Commerce and area agribusinesses.
