Thelma Waneva Swearengen, 91, of Eagle Rock, passed away on Saturday, Jan. 11, 2014, at Cox Monett Hospital. She was born on Dec.2, 1922, in Brookfield, daughter of Oscar and Olah Mae (Linhart) Fanning. On June 21, 1941, she was united in marriage to C.B. Swearengen in Linneus, and he survives.
She was a beautician for a short time and then became a homemaker. She was a member of the Broadway Methodist Church in Kansas City.
Additional survivors include: one son, Terry Benton Swearengen and his wife, Gail, of Eagle Rock; one daughter, Patricia Ann Larson and her husband, George, of Shell Knob; 10 grandchildren; nine great-grandchildren; one great-great-grandson; and three sisters, Rayma Smith, of Lee's Summit, Wanda Peak, of North Highlands, Calif., and Charlotte Fanning, of Sacramento, Calif.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by two brothers, Zane Fanning and Doyle Fanning; and five sisters, Opha Spencer, Maime Denton, Evelyn Spencer, Wilma Raupp, and Delane Fanning.
A graveside service will be held at 12 p.m. on Saturday, May 3 at Oak Grove Cemetery in Milne, Mo.
Local arrangements are under the direction of the White Funeral Home and Crematory, Cassville.
