Robert L. "Bob" Stringer
Robert L. "Bob" Stringer, 84, of Exeter, passed away Thursday, Jan. 9, 2014, in Red Rose Health and Rehabilitation Center, Cassville.
He was born Dec. 11, 1929, in Monett, the son of Charles and Delphine (Howard) Stringer. On Oct. 27, 1951, in Eureka Springs, Ark., he was united in marriage to Arvilla Robbins, who survives.
Additional survivors include: one son, Everett Brock, of Columbus, Ga.; two daughters, Ida Black and her husband, Conard, of Jenkins, and Evelyn Arnold and her husband, Bud, of Carthage; one sister, Mona Jean, of Merritt Island, Fla.; seven grandchildren; 10 great-grandchildren; and two great-great-grandchildren.
Preceding him in death were his parents.
He grew up in Barry County. In 1948, he joined the U.S. Army, retiring on Feb. 29, 1968. He served in Germany, in Korea and two times in Vietnam. He ran filling stations in Cassville, Exeter and Wheaton; was employed at Miracle; and then owned a small engine shop at his home. He was a member of Cassville VFW and American Legion.
Graveside services with military honors were held Monday at Maplewood Cemetery, Exeter, under direction of Fohn Funeral Home, Cassville. Pastor Doyle Russell conducted the services.
