Flu vaccines available

It's not too late to get vaccinated. Flu vaccines are still available at the Barry County Health Department, located at 65 Main St. in Cassville.

KOMA Beef Conference slated

The 2014 KOMA Beef Conference will be held at 3 p.m. on Tuesday, Jan. 14 at the Joplin Regional Stockyards in Carthage. Cost of the event for those registering before Jan. 10 is $25 per person. Payment at the door is $30. For more information, call Eldon Cole, livestock specialist with MU Extension, at 417-466-3102.

Adult Ag class slated

The Cassville Agriculture Department will host its monthly Adult Ag Class at 6:30 p.m. on Monday, Jan. 13 at the Cassville High School ag room. Patrick Byers, regional horticulture specialist with MU Extension, will discuss home fruit production. The class is free to attend. A meal and drinks will be provided.

Mineral Springs Road District meeting set

Mineral Springs Road District will meet at 5:30 p.m. on Thursday, Jan. 9 at the district road barn. The tentative agenda includes an update on road conditions.

Cassville Trivia Night planned

The Cassville Education Fund will host Trivia Night at 7 p.m. on Friday, March 7 at the Cassville High School commons area. Four rounds of trivia questions will be interspersed with winner-take-all bonus point games. The entry fee is $15 per person. Spectators are welcome at a cost of $5 per person. All proceeds from the event will benefit the Cassville Education Fund supporting academic programs at Cassville schools.

ARC hosts blood drive

The American Red Cross will host a blood drive from 11 a.m. to 5 p.m. on Tuesday, Jan. 28 at Crowder College, located at 4020 N. Main St. in Cassville.

Southern Missouri Beekeepers to meet

The Southern Missouri Beekeepers will meet at 7 p.m. on Tuesday, Jan. 21 at First United Methodist Church, located at 1600 N. Central in Monett. This month's topic is deep hive bodies, frames and foundation for beginners. A pot luck dinner will be served. Those attending are encouraged to take a dish. Barry County DD board to meet

Barry County Tax Board for the Developmentally Disabled will meet at 6:30 p.m. Monday, Jan. 13 at the Cassville Branch Library.

Fish and Fly-tying workshop

The Missouri Department of Conservation will host a Fish and Fly-tying workshop from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. on Saturday, Jan. 11 at Roaring River State Park. Participants will have the opportunity to discover the basics of fly-tying, fly-fishing equipment and casting. Silas Gray, local outdoor writer, and members of the MAKO Fly-Fishing Club will assist in hosting the half-day workshop. By the end of the class, participants will have the opportunity to catch a fish on a fly they created that day. Participants should dress for the weather. Some gear will be provided. Participants may bring their own. A valid fishing permit is required.

Courthouse, Judicial Center closed

The Barry County Courthouse and Judicial Center will be closed on Jan. 20 in observance of Martin Luther King Jr. Day.
