Assessment sheets mailed out Jan. 2
Barry County Assessor Sherry Sears announced that the 2014 Personal Property and Business Assessment Sheets were mailed out on Jan. 2.
Those who have not received a form are asked to allow at least seven to 10 days before calling the office to allow time for all forms to be delivered.
"Please double check the shaded box area, which displays last year's vehicles, trailers, boats, livestock and other items which were assessed in 2013. If items need to be corrected for the 2014 assessment, draw a line through the incorrect item(s) no longer owned and list the new item purchased in the appropriate areas below the shaded box.
Property owners are then asked to check the appropriate box indicating changes have been made or no changes made.
Property owners are reminded the information that must be reported is record ownership on Jan. 1, 2014.
Finally, sign and date the form and write a daytime contact telephone number where a representative of the Assessor's Office should there be any questions regarding the assessment.
Anyone not receiving a form may call the Assessor's Office at 847-2613 to request one, or drop by the office for assistance in filling out the form.
Those with questions or concerns may call or stop by the office during regular business hours.
All forms must be postmarked by March 1, to avoid a late assessment penalty.
