C&I driver lands in BC jail
What started as a routine stop by a Barry County deputy on New Year's Eve ended in felony charges for a Cassville man.
Barry County Sheriff Mick Epperly said the incident started about 5 p.m. when a deputy saw the subject driving in an erratic manner. When the deputy initiated a stop, the driver, identified as Trent Michael Lehman, 20, of Cassville, fled the scene. He drove the truck through several fields in rural Barry County, crashing through four fences, scattering cattle, and running over two calves. One had to be euthanized.
"We ended up searching for him all night," Epperly said. "He turned himself in on Monday."
Lehman has been charged with the felonies of first degree property damage and resisting arrest.
Lehman was taken into custody at the Barry County jail and later released on $4,500 cash bond.
