Gracy earns Meritorious Service medal

A former Cassville resident has earned the Meritorious Service medal for accomplishments made from Aug. 18, 2011, through Aug. 30, 2013. Captain Jeremy S. Gracy distinguished himself in the performance of outstanding service as the Air Mobility Operations Flight Commander, 36th Mobility Response Squadron, 36th Contingency Response Group, 36th Wing, Andersen Air Force Base in Guam. Gracy successfully led 50 airmen through a multi-national exercise, three theatre-wide engagements and 15 mobility support operations. Gracy also was key during two humanitarian exercises that involved integrated cooperation from the United States, Korea, Japan and the Royal Australian Air Force to execute 78 airlift missions including 112 personnel and 275,300 pounds of cargo. Gracy authored the Air Force Contingency Response tactics, techniques and procedures maul for airfield assessments. Gracy was credited with seamless site coordination during the first operational deployment os a high altitude missile defense surface to air missile system during heightened tensions with North Korea. Gracy, the son of Bill and Donna Gracy, of Cassville, is a 2002 graduate of Cassville High School and a 2006 graduate of the U.S. Air Force Academy.
