Helen "Luarana" Shrum

Helen "Luarana" Shrum, 73, of Washburn, passed away Sunday, Dec. 15, 2013, at her home.

She was born April 8, 1940, in McDonald County, near Powell, the daughter of Charles and Jewell (Dalton) Poe. On Dec. 22, 1956, she was united in marriage to Roy Lou Shrum, who preceded her in death on May 1, 2003. Also preceding her in death were her parents; two brothers, Bob Poe and Bill Poe; one granddaughter, Jessica Pettengill; and one great-granddaughter.

Survivors include: two sons, Jack Shrum and his wife, Debbie, and Lynn Shrum and his wife, Joyce, all Washburn; one daughter, Helen Pettengill and her husband, Dwayne, of Wheaton; two brothers, LeRoy Poe, of La Grande, Ore., and Jack Poe, of Noel; five sisters, Marie, of Texas, Mary Bell Banks, of Jane, Ruth Horton, of Simco, Charlene Bennett, of Monett, and Delores Forrester, of Rocky Comfort; seven grandchildren; three step-grandchildren; seven great-grandchildren; and four step great-great-grandchildren.

She attended school in McDonald County and later worked for Fasco Industries for 22 years. She attended Mission Baptist Church in Washburn.

Funeral services will be at 1 p.m. Thursday in Fohn Funeral Home, Cassville. Burial will be at King Cemetery, Washburn. Visitation will be 6 to 8 p.m. Wednesday in Fohn Funeral Home, Cassville.
