Richard W. Rose
Richard W. Rose, 77, of Carthage, passed away Wednesday, Dec. 11, 2013, at his home in Carthage, He was born Nov. 23, 1936, in Kansas City, a son of the late William Lafayette Rose and Irene Opal White Rose. He graduated from East High School in Kansas City. He married Erma Ruth Shoemaker on Dec. 21, 1956, and she survives. He worked for Havens Steel in Kansas City. He was a member of the Blue Springs Police Reserve 1975 to 1981, and he was a Newton County Deputy Sheriff from 1983 to 1990. He was a member of Life Point Church in Joplin, a CPR instructor for the American Red Cross; EMT certified and a reserve detective for Blue Springs Police Department in Blue Springs.
Survivors include: a daughter, Deborah Lynn Rose, Carthage; two sons, Danny Reed Rose, Carthage, and Sterling Jerry Hailey, Leavenworth, Kan.; one brothers, William Rose, of Independence; six grandchildren; six great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents; a daughter, Connie Bracken; two sisters, Sandy Etzenhouser and Cathy Vaughn; and a brother, James G. Rose.
Funeral services were held Sunday at the Life Point Church. Graveside services were held Monday at the Muncie Chapel Cemetery, Wheaton. Memorial gifts are suggested to the Life Point Church, Joplin, Mo. Arrangements were under the direction of Knell Mortuary, Carthage, Mo.
