Red Cross blood drive set

The American Red Cross will be hosting a blood drive from 1 to 6 p.m. on Monday, Dec. 9 at Monett Community Church, 2102 E. Cleveland in Monett.

Road district meeting set

The Mineral Springs Road District will meet in regular session at 5:30 p.m. on Thursday, Dec. 12 at the district road barn. The public is welcome to attend.

Angel Tree to benefit kids in need

The Barry County Sheriff's Office is sponsoring its seventh annual Angel Tree, to give Christmas gifts to children in need in Barry County. The Angel Tree program provides toys and gifts to children who would otherwise not have gifts on Christmas. The Barry County Sheriff's Office, in conjunction with the Barry County Neighborhood Center, will provide ages of family members or individual children that are eligible for adoption. Those wishing to adopt a child or family can stop at the Barry County Sheriff's Office during normal business hours, 8 a.m. to 4 p.m. Monday through Friday or call 847-6556.

Christmas wreath-making class planned

The basics of Christmas wreath-making will be taught at the fourth adult ag class of the year at 6:30 p.m. on Monday, Dec. 9 at the Cassville High School ag department. Seligman Lions Club dance slated

Seligman Lions Club will host its monthly dance from 7 to 10 p.m. on Thursday, Dec. 5 at the Seligman Community Building. Frosty Garland and the Road Hogs will entertain. A cover charge of $4 per person to attend. Snack foods are welcome. For more information, call 846-5355.

Cassville Senior dance planned

The Cassville Senior Center will host its dance from 7 to 10 p.m. on Saturday, Dec. 7 at the Senior Citizens Center, located at 1111 Fair St. in Cassville. The Roaring River Sounds Band will entertain. There is a $4 cover charge. All proceeds from the event will benefit the senior center's Meals on Wheels program. Snack foods are welcome. Exeter Christmas Parade, dinner planned

The Exeter community will serve its annual Christmas dinner from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. on Saturday, Dec. 11 at the Exeter Community Building. The dinner, prepared by Calla Bacon and Cheryl Lee, of C&C Country Store, is available at a cost of $6 per person .The annual Christmas Parade will take place at 1:30 p.m. Those wishing to register a parade entry may call Exeter City Hall at 835-2823. Santa Claus will hand out treats at the Community Building following the parade.

Craft show and bake sale planned

Cassville Healthcare and Rehab is hosting its annual craft fair and bake sale from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. on Saturday, Dec. 7 at the facility, located at 1300 County Farm Road in Cassville. Door prizes will be awarded throughout the day. Santa Claus will be available for photos and holiday wishes.

Benefit for Dustin Griffis

A benefit for Dustin Griffis, a Cassville High School student diagnosed with Stage 4 Hodgkin's Lymphoma, will be held from 5 to 7 p.m. on Friday, Dec. 6 and the Cassville High School commons area. The meal of chili or ham and beans, cornbread, dessert and a beverage will cost $7. An auction and live music is also planned. Team Dusty T-shirts will be available at a cost of $15. Proceeds from the event will help with expenses related to his recent diagnosis.

A Hillbilly Christmas

Area residents have the opportunity to get their red hats on and celebrate a Hillbilly Christmas Carol, presented by Shell Knob in the Spotlight (S.K.I.T.S.). Performances of this Ozarks version of Dickens' "Christmas Carol" are scheduled for 7 p.m. on Friday, Dec. 6 and Saturday, Dec. 7 and 1:30 p.m. on Sunday, Dec. 8 at the Central Community United Methodist Church auditorium, located on Highway YY in Shell Knob.

OFO to present Christmas Concert

The Ozark Festival Orchestra will present its Christmas concert at 3 p.m. on Sunday, Dec. 8, at the Monett City Hall Auditorium. This will be the second concert in the OFO's 34th season. Admission is $5. Children age 18 and under will be admitted free.

The Christmas Show slated

HomeTown Sound and the RedHots will present the 2013 Christmas Show on Thursday, Dec. 5 and Friday, Dec. 6 at the FEMA Event Center in Cassville. The Christmas Show will begin at 7:30 p.m. each night. Tickets for The Christmas Show can be purchased in advance at the Chamber or at any local bank for $6. The ticket price will increase to $8 if purchased at the door.

Barry County Retired Teachers to meet

The Barry County Retired School Personnel will host its annual Christmas party at 10:30 a.m. on Friday, Dec. 6 at Happy House Restaurant in Monett. Members are asked to bring non-perishable food items to benefit Crosslines for the group's service project.

Barry County Extension explains healthcare

MU Extension's Health Insurance Education Initiative provides education about the Affordable Care Act, the new health care law, as it relates to health insurance in effort to prepare Missourians to make informed health insurance decisions. The Extension Service will host a free meeting from 6:30 to 8 p.m. on Monday, Dec. 9, in the Commissioner's meeting room at the historic Barry County Courthouse, located at 700 Main in Cassville.
