Fatality in single vehicle crash
One person was fatally injured in a single-vehicle crash on Highway 86 in Newtonia at 4:50 a.m. on Tuesday, Nov. 26.
According to the Missouri State Highway Patrol, Kevin L. Haynie, 32, of Purdy, was driving west in a 2004 Pontiac Grand Prix when it traveled off the right side of the road and overturned. Haynie was not wearing a seat belt at the time of the crash.
Newton County Assistant Coroner Brian Artherton pronounced Haynie dead at the scene. The body was taken to Clarks Funeral Home in Neosho.
* A Cassville man was injured in a single-vehicle crash at 8 p.m. on Tuesday, Nov. 26 on Highway W about four miles east of Wheaton. The crash occurred when the driver of a 2004 Mercury Grand Marquis, Kylan J. Bruton, 20, of Cassville, ran off the roadway and struck a ditch. Bruton was taken to Mercy Hospital in Cassville with minor injuries. He was not wearing a seat belt.
* A Monett woman sustained minor injuries in a two-vehicle crash at 6:50 a.m. on Business Highway 60 about three miles east of Monett. The crash occurred when the driver of a 2004 Ford pickup truck, David L. Luebbering, 42, of Verona, was slowing to make a turn and was struck from behind by a 2002 Mazda, driven by Connie G. Meeks, 46, of Monett. Meeks was taken by private vehicle to Cox Monett Hospital for treatment of minor injuries. Both drivers were wearing seat belts.
