MU Extension meeting on Affordable Care Act set
MU Extension's Health Insurance Education Initiative provides education about the Affordable Care Act, the new health care law, as it relates to health insurance in effort to prepare Missourians to make informed health insurance decisions. This initiative allows MU Extension to position itself as a leader in the state for providing the necessary education on this compelling public policy issue.
A free meeting will be held from 6:30 to 8 p.m. on Monday, Dec. 9, in the Commissioner's meeting room at the historic Barry County Courthouse, located at 700 Main in Cassville.
Programming under the Health Insurance Education Initiative occurs on various levels:
* General health insurance education provides the information Missourians need to understand new health insurance regulations of the ACA and in what ways they change program participants' lives, including: if and how their current health insurance plan may/may not change and when, if and when participants should enroll in a new health insurance plan or continue with their current health insurance plan, and if participants qualify for subsidies to help them pay for their insurance, and if so, how to obtain those subsidies.
* Health insurance literacy training is needed by some audiences and provides the critical resources and skills needed to navigate the forthcoming Health Insurance Marketplace, formerly known as the Health Insurance Exchange, or other health insurance plans not part of the Marketplace.
* Employer health insurance training provides small business owners with the resources and skills needed to make health insurance decisions that best fit their individual business' needs.
