Harold A. Palmer
Harold A. Palmer, 93, of Cassville, passed away Tuesday, Nov. 12, 2013, in his home.
He was born April 28, 1920, in Sterling, Colo., the son of Amos C. and Ethel R. (Flint) Palmer. On May 24, 1941, he was united in marriage to Dema E. Zwirn, who preceded him in death on July 4, 1991. On May 20, 1995, he married Ruth J. (Bruce) Andrews, who preceded him in death on Feb. 2, 2010. Also preceding him in death were his parents, two daughters, three brothers and five sisters.
Survivors include: his children, Harry A. Palmer, of Eagle Rock, Linda Ball and her husband, Denny, of Eagle Rock, and Robin Kroll, of Rock Hill, S.C.; three step-children, Millard Andrews and his wife, Kathy, of Cassville, Michael Andrews, of St. Charles, and Sharon Doble and her husband, Jonathan, of Rogers, Ark.; eight grandchildren; 15 step-grandchildren; 14 great-grandchildren; 17 step-great-grandchildren; and two great-great-grand-children.
He received his education in Colorado and Kansas City. During World War II, he entered the U.S. Army, serving from May 25, 1942, until Oct. 26, 1946. For several years, he farmed in Colorado, Nebraska and Wyoming, built grain elevators and managed service stations. He then moved to Kansas City, Missouri, where he worked at Hallmark Cards for 15 years in building maintenance. In 1982, he retired and moved to the Eagle Rock area. He was active in the Cassville Senior Center, where he delivered meals for 12 and one half years and for two and a half years did maintenance for them. He was a member of Butterfield Baptist Church.
Funeral services were held Sunday, in Fohn Funeral Home, Cassville. Pastor Dave Eaton, Sr., conducted the services. Graveside services with military honors were held Monday in Mount Moriah & Freeman Cemetery in Kansas City.
