Elder law presented at support group

Elder law attorney Sativia Boatman-Sloan will speak at the TrueCare Assisted Living Dementia/Alzheimer's Support Group meeting at 10 a.m. on Tuesday, Nov.12, at the TrueCare Assisted Living facility located on Highway YY in Shell Knob. Boatman-Sloan specializes in legal matters relevant to seniors. She will provide information on wills, trusts, power of attorney and financial planning. Cassville Senior Center hosts dance

Cassville Senior Center will host its monthly dance, featuring the Roaring River Sounds Band, from 7 to 10 p.m. on Saturday, Nov. 2 at the center, located at 1111 Fair St. in Cassville. Books and Blood Drive slated

The Purdy Branch Library and the American Red Cross is joining together to host Books and Blood, a blood drive, from noon to 4 p.m. on Thursday, Oct. 31. The drive will feature costumed helpers, prize give-aways and every donor will receive a free book. Halloween-themed refreshments will be served. Farmers Market hours change

Cassville Farmers Market on the Square hours are now 8 a.m. to noon on Saturdays until the season ends on Nov. 23.

Billy Graham video event in Purdy

"My Hope America," with Billy Graham, will be shown at 10:45 a.m. on Sunday, Nov. 10 at the First Baptist Church of Purdy. The video is part of a nationwide effort in Christian outreach ministry. The public is invited.

Barry County Democrats to meet

Purdy Fall Fun Festival slated

Purdy Assembly of God will host its second Fall Fun Festival from 6 to 9 p.m. on Thursday, Oct. 31 at the church, located at 209 W. Jefferson St. in Purdy. The event will feature games and activities for children in sixth grade and younger, along with candy, door prizes and food. The free event is family-friendly and safe. Development Center celebrating 40 years

The Barry-Lawrence County Development Center is celebrating its 40th xanniversary with a reception and benefit auction on Nov. 8 at the Monett Park Casino. Reception is from 5:30 to 6:30 p.m. and the silent auction until 7 p.m. A live auction begins at 7:15 p.m. Event organizers are seeking all alumni, staff and volunteers. Memorial books now available

The Cassville Branch Library has two new books for children: "Cowpoke Clyde and Dirty Dog," by Lori Mortensen, and "The Story of Fish and Snail," by Deborah Freedman. The additions were made possible by Marlene and Ronnie Whitham, of Cassville, in memory of their friend and neighbor, Tina Vought. Special bookplates honoring the gift have been placed inside the book.

Corsicana Road District to meet

The Corsicana Secial Road District will meet at 7 p.m. on Tuesday, Nov. 5, at the Community Building in Purdy. The tentative agenda includes road updates and the treasurer's report for the district.

Cassville third graders to perform

The public is invited to the Cassville third-grade performance of a patriotic program at 7 p.m. on Thursday, Nov. 7 at the FEMA Event Center, located by the football field in Cassville.

Former superintendent on Honor Flight

Ron Evans, 90, a former superintendent for the Cassville R-4 District, is scheduled to leave this week on an Honor Flight out of Poplar Bluff to visit the Veterans Memorial in Washington, D.C. Evans was the superintendent at Cassville during the 1970s. He will be accompanied by his son.

Cassville Cruisers to meet

The Cassville Cruisers car club members will hold their monthly meeting at 7 p.m. on Tuesday, Nov. 5, at Papa Vito's. Come early if you would like to eat. All car enthusiasts are invited to attend.
