Three killed in area crashes

A four-vehicle crash at 6:30 a.m. on Wednesday, Oct. 23 on Highway W near Butterfield has left a two men dead and three others seriously injured.

According to a Missouri State Highway Patrol report, the crash occurred when the driver of a 2003 Chevrolet Trailblazer, Jennifer A. Moerer, 34, of Wheaton, was traveling eastbound approximately one-half mile west of Butterfield when the vehicle crossed the center line and struck a 2003 Ford Ranger, driven by Antonio Luna, 73, of Rocky Comfort, head-on. The Moerer vehicle then struck a 2005 Chevrolet Malibu, driven by Amanda D. Walker, 27, of Purdy, causing it to spin out of control and into a 1998 Dodge Durango, driven by Susan Morin, 34, of Butterfield.

A passenger in the Walker vehicle, Lukas W. Walker, 34, of Wheaton, was pronounced dead at the scene by Barry County Deputy Coroner Charles McManus. The body was taken to Fohn Funeral Home in Cassville.

The injured include Moerer and a passenger in her vehicle, Greyson C. Heatley, 3, of Wheaton. Both were taken by ambulance to Mercy Hospital in Springfield with moderate and minor injuries, respectively.

Amanda Walker, Luna, Nunez and Morin were all airlifted to Springfield hospitals with serious injuries. Luna succumbed to his injuries on Sunay, Oct. 27.

This is Troop D's 99th fatality crash for the year.

Other crashes

* A Cassville man is dead following a single-vehicle crash at 10:07 p.m. on Sunday, Oct. 27 on Highway 76 about one mile east of Cassville. The crash occurred when the driver of a 2001 Pontiac Grand Am, Joshua M. Quinlan, 32, of Cassville, ran off the road and the vehicle overturned. Joshua Quinlan was pronouced dead at the scene by Barry County Deputy Coroner Charles McManus. The body was taken to Fohn Funeral Home in Cassville. Two passengers in the vehicle sustained serious injuries. Andrew J. Quinlan, 23, of Cassville, and Miles A. Czekiel, 23, of Washington, Mich., were taken to Cox Hospital South in Springfield. None of the vehicle's occupants were wearing seat belts. This is Troop D's 98th fatality crash this year.
