Annual Sounds of the Season concert planned
Holiday Island Clubhouse will host the 17th annual Sounds of the Season concert at 4 p.m. on Saturday, Nov. 16, at the facility, located at 1 Country Club Dr. at Holiday Island, Ark.
Opening the concert will be the First Line-New Orleans Jazz Group, playing 1920 standards representing the transition from bluegrass to jazz.
First Line is an acoustic jazz group that specializes in New Orleans-style jazz and popular tunes from the 1930s through the 1950s. The group is led by Al Gibson on trumpet and vocals, and features Jim Jernigan on clarinet. Ethan Moll, guitarist, and Clay Johnson, bass, keep the music moving forward in a toe-tapping groove.
The 60-member Ozark Chorale, directed by Beth Withey and accompanied by Ellen Stephenson, continues the program. The performance will reflect the spirit of the holidays, including favorites, mellow and up-tempo jazz-inspired standards and classical works to round out the program.
Tickets are $10 for adults, and may be reserved by calling 479-253-7671 or purchased at the door. Children will be admitted free of charge.
