Dream Team seeks donations
The Dream Team, a volunteer team with Hospice Compassus, is seeking donations for their Dream Team Christmas Store.
"We are collecting new items for all ages, from infants to seniors," said Ginger Harrison, Dream Team and Hospice Compassus volunteer coordinator. "We are hoping the community will embrace this project as a meaningful way to pay it forward. We are looking for merchants to donate close-out and seasonal items, as well as individuals willing to donate new, yet unneeded or unwanted items cluttering up their basements and closets."
Harrison said almost everyone enjoys giving gifts to their loved ones during the holiday season. The majority of nursing home residents no longer have the resources to purchase gifts.
"We want them to once again experience the joy of holiday giving and assist them in creating memories," Harrison said. "What really makes our store special is everything is free to the residents."
In addition to gift items, the Dream Team is seeking donations of gift bags, wrap, ribbon, bows, tape and name tags.
The store will begin visiting area nursing homes in early December. The Dream Team is hoping to partner with local scout troops, clubs, churches and other organizations interested in collecting gifts and assisting resident shoppers.
The Dream Team and Hospice Compassus volunteers established the Dream Team Christmas Store in 2012, as a means of promoting the mission to honor life and offer hope to individuals within the community facing a lifetime illness.
The Community Hospices of America Foundation is a non-profit organization. All donations are tax deductible.
