Wildcats fifth at Big 8 XC
The Cassville Wildcats placed fifth in the boys division at the Big 8 Conference cross-country meet at Granby on Saturday, Oct. 26.
The Lamar Tigers won easily with 35 points, followed by Carl Junction, Monett, Seneca, Cassville and East Newton.
Kaden Overstreet, of Lamar, out-dueled Blake Barth, of Carl Junction, for the individual title, winning in 16:21.99.
Cassville was led by Jeff Crumpler's 14th-place finish in 18:43. Lane Madison finished 20th in 19:13.
Alex Dyer was 22nd in 19:22.
Jonah Bundy placed 26th in 19:44.
Nathan Vitt was 28th in 19:51.
Tyler Speakman finished 33rd in 20:41.
David Wittemire placed 35th in 20:50.
Matt Vermillion came in 39th in 21:14.
Riley Lekarczyk placed 41st in 21:46.
Chad Howerton took 44th in 22:22 and Mason Loveland finished 45th in 22:28.
Only three schools entered complete teams in the girls division.
Carl Junction won with 29 points followed by East Newton and Monett.
Jelynn Tatum, of Carl Junction, held on to edge East Newton's Emily Sorrell for the individual crown, running the course in 19:10.64.
Jordan Campbell led the Cassville entry with her 13th place finish in 23:44. Camille Holman was 14th in 23:44.77 and Ryann Stewart placed 19th in 24:45.
